My two other posts today are about recipes from the book ‘The 12 Best Foods Cookbook’ by Dana Jacobi. I am always looking for ways to eat healthier and better without sacrificing flavor, texture or the passion that is evoked by making delicious food. I have seen many, many lists of what top nutritionists think are the best foods to eat and this one is pretty comprehensive, but by no means exclusive. I am sure there are others out there with enough evidence to make them acceptable as well.
Although there are no pictures in this cookbook (for a visual person like me it makes it a challenge) it has some really good-sounding recipes in it. This is what is on Dana’s list:
Blueberries, Black Beans, Oatmeal, Broccoli, Walnuts, Soy, Tomatoes, Salmon, Sweet Potatoes, Spinach, Chocolate and Onions.
Each item gets it’s due with regards to it’s nutritional makeup and what types of health benefits it offers. The recipes are categorized (Appetizers, Salads, Main Dishes) and on each page is a small picture of which of the 12 foods the recipes contains. The most items in one recipe is five (Wild Blueberry Trail Mix contains blueberries, walnuts, oats, chocolate and soy) most contain two or three, some have four. I am just starting out with exploring this book, so we’ll see what comes up after today. Read on for more exciting dishes!

I’ve perused the book a bit. Only issue is that some of the ingredients are really seasonal, which limits you a bit. I.E. the blueberry section is about to phase out with the commin’ of winter.
Ah, yes for the fresh version, but those of us who are proactive about freezing mass quantities will have them year round and available for those recipes that don’t require fresh.
Yay! I love all of those foods! I eat blueberries just about every morning.
Blueberries are such an incredible superfood
