and sit a spell. I’ll put the coffee pot on, or maybe you would like some tea?
Kristen at Dine and Dish posted recently about her kitchen, (after finding Ilva’s Kitchen Round Up event) and called on anyone who may be interested to show off where the inspiration for their blogging originates. I absolutely love my kitchen, it has everything I need in a perfect lay out. Come and take a look!
Desk, pantry, fridge, stove and island.
The other side, a bit dark for all the sunshine pouring in the windows.
The island…note the white power strip above the drawers; a feature I LOVE!
My other favorite feature of the island; Mike built these in response to my complaint over wasted space in the cabinet. It helped immensely. He’s a genius!
Another awesome feature; windows below and above these wall cabinets let in copious amounts of southern light.
Look closely at the Edvard Munch style oak pattern on the back of the island…kinda creepy, huh?
But this baseboard assures us that everything is OK 3…..whatever that means!
But one of the best things about the kitchen is when newcomers to our house try to find our trash. It’s so fun to make them hunt!!
Thanks for stopping by and visiting!!! Please feel free to show off your own kitchen!

What a lovely kitchen. I’m so jealous of the desk…wish I had one in my kitchen area. I also love how open and bright it is. Those windows are incredible!
Thanks for inviting me over. I enjoyed the tour
Considering my teeny NYC kitchen is about the size of your island, I have severe kitchen envy. Big, beautiful, open and sunny kitchens like yours are better than chocolate!
Ditto, Anne.
My kitchen is waaaaaay smaller than all the ones you girls have been posting. I still need to add storage space and little tricks (like a pot-hanger) to make it more user-friendly.
But a kitchen like this would be what I want when I buy a house. I love, love, love your island. Is it the type where you have tiny wheels below that can be locked and unlock to move it around if you want to?
Kristen, thanks for the compliment. That desk and it’s drawer serves as a junk collector mostly, but it’s pretty useful too, and the cubbies and cabinet above are great.
I love the bright light too, our house faces South primarily. A big selling point for us. When we stepped into the house the first time, I took one look at the kitchen, and all the light, and thought “This is IT!!!”
Marce, the island is built in. It’s super nice with lots of work space and serving space for parties. I just LOVE the power strip!
Your kitchen is wonderful!! Not only is it lovely–it’s very functional. And that’s one of the most important things to me. Those shelves in the Island are genius! Thanks for sharing that!
Love love love your kitchen! Especially the drawers. The kitchen in our apartment (which we lease) is horrible. Maybe I should do a post on kitchen nightmares!
Looks like a great place to hang out over coffee Kate!
Happy New Year by the way. Hope you had a great one.
Excellent kitchen, particularly the simple clean looking island. Mine is much smaller kitchen, but luckily it’s got an small peninsula. My next little project is to install a power strip! Sure would beat getting sauce all over various power cords.
I also like that the sink is in the corner – I think that’s how I would design a new kitchen.
Man…I’m so GREEN with envy!
What a GREAT kitchen! It looks much like what I hope to have one day. I can’t complain much at the moment as our current kitchen is pretty good for military housing. But, it’s only ours for a few more months.
Cheers!
Melissa
What a beautiful and functional kitchen! I like the shelves that were built into the island. And the windows above and below the cabinets add a nice touch!
Beautiful kitchen. Love your trash container!
dunno why all the images din load….I’ll come back later
NIce kitchen … but I can view some…Hope It will show up later…can’t wait…..see ya
Beautiful kitchen! I love the idea of the power stip in the island. Thanks for showing us your kitchen.
Bummer, I’ve come several times now and none of your images open for me.
Sounds like a really great kitchen from the comments.
