I hated Tag as a kid, being the awkward and gangly stick-leg girl that I was. In blogdom, however, Tag is fun. It means a meme. While I know there are some people who see a meme and run screaming in the opposite direction, I think they’re kinda fun. Rachel at {rachel bites} tagged me for the 6 Weird Things About Yourself meme. I will follow her lead and make it food related as well.
Kate’s Six Weird Food Things About Herself
1. I love peanut butter, and crave it every day. I mean, people……I CRAVE IT
2. I would rather insert pins in my eyeballs or wood slivers under my fingernails than have anything even remotely suggesting the words ‘Rachel Ray’ in my house. No offense to those who enjoy what she does, but I am not now, nor ever will be on the RR bandwagon
3. 12 years ago when my son was a baby I made his baby food from scratch. While that’s not at all weird now, then it was considered totally crazy and some people even thought it would harm him. I want to meet those people now and have them join us for dinner to watch how well my almost-teenager eats
4. I. HATE. KETCHUP.
5. I graduated from culinary school with highest honors but can’t make pan gravy to save my stinkin’ life (but my beef demi glace at Christmas was beyond stellar) I can just imagine meeting St. Peter at the pearly gates and instead of him holding the scroll of my life, he’s just going to hand me a pan of drippings, some flour and a whisk.
6. I have a whole cabinet of great cookbooks but do most of my cooking either from my head or maybe a magazine recipe. I have decided to make a somewhat more focused attempt to use them more this year than in the past. Even knowing this, I still have a hard time resisting the urge to buy more cookbooks.
The fun part of a meme is tagging others that you think might want to play. You are by no means obligated if your name is on this list, and even if it’s not on the list and you want to play….come on over!
Marty at Blue Soup
GDS at In Search of……A Hollow Leg
Lisa at Champaign Taste
Marce at Pip in the City
Dahhhling Veuve at Sugar Delirium

I see your tag and I’ll raise you: http://simplycooking.wordpress.com/2007/01/16/three-things-a-meme/
Kate, you’re such a doll. Thanks for tagging me! I totally hear your about the ketchup. I have one word for it: bleh!!!
Ok, I´m on it! This one might be hard because I don´t know if I have many weird food things… I have weird things in general, but I don´t know if I do when it comes to food.
I’ll teach you how to make gravy if you teach me how to make beef demi glace. Deal?
god Kristen…..d’you have any idea how EMBARASSING it is to not be able to make pan gravy?? but yes….I will teach you beef demi glace!! Ya comin’ over soon??!
Cool list! I totally understand the Rachel Ray thing. I just recently got Directv and sat down to watch her and immediately just could not get it. She is annoying to me, she always does that little fake giggle. I once counted how many times she giggled during one of her $40 a day shows and literally lost count. She scares me with her Joker smile. Creeeepy.
I’m on it! I will think today and post my weird food things tomorrow.

interesting about peanut butter. i just saw a recipe for peanut butter soup – i think it was in the new 75th anniversary edition of the joy of cooking. it seems so yummy that i added it to my list of stuff to make. hopefully i’ll get it to sooner rather than later. i’ll let you know how it turns out!
Oh, I LOVE PB too and could live without ketchup although I do use it on fried catfish (when I eat it which is rare).
Uh oh, I’m game, but I don’t know too many food bloggers well yet. I’ll tag a few people and see how it goes. Check my blog soon for my wierd things!
BTW – good for you on the baby food thing!
