Yup, this is a NO-AD zone.
This is a recipe/food/lifestyle blog. It’s about what I love to create in my kitchen and share with the people I love and is a small window into my life and that of my family. I started this blog for me, I write it for my audience- whoever you are, wherever you come from, and I thank you for visiting this site- and I don’t write it to bring me riches, fame or a household name.
I don’t begrudge anyone who places ads on their blogs; we all do this for widely different reasons; I respect that. I have watched some of my favorite sites turn into over-stuffed, commercialized propaganda, and in doing so, they lose some of the qualities that made them appealing, not to mention making it difficult to even find the content that drew you there in the first place. If it works, more power to you. Our society bombards us with images, advertising and useless information constantly and the insidious presence is overwhelming and stressful. There has to be a line drawn, and this one is mine.
Thank you for stopping by to take a look. I hope you will return again.

I’m so in agreement with you on this …
Hi,
I respect you for giving your time FREELY! I know it is a lot of work, as I have a blog as well that is basically ad free. I am not really going to make any money off 1 adsense that gives me 5 cents per click. Your blog is beautiful and you can tell that you are passionate!
I love that you have this on your blog. Good for you! And you are absolutely right.
Great job Kate! I should probably include a similar explanation over at my blog:) I removed the extras a few months ago, partly so I can review books and products that interest me and not be holden to anyone.
Cheers!
Kate, I usually read you via RSS so I miss these other pages on your blog. I particularly enjoyed reading the Kate 100–it is refreshing to find such honesty online. I am also ad-free and I totally agree with you on this one. I have found that advertising affects content. The content seems to get more dumbed down and generalized, less personal and interesting, when the content owner is hoping to increase ad revenue. There are other reasons to blog than just hoping to make a quick book. I respect your decision to remain ad-free and I know it makes your blog more enjoyable.
I meant to say quick buck in my comment above, although quick book can sometimes apply as well LOL.
